Building a Better Yesterday
Lone Star is a well known and pervasive megacorporation, a private law enforcement contractor that serves as the police force of several major metropolitan areas, including Seattle. Lone Star officers are known for their adherence to corporate policy, their general lack of empathy for the citizenry of their jurisdictions, and their high degree of financial support as compared to municipal law enforcement agencies. Every area of Seattle has a color-coded response level, which describes its priority in dispatching officers to a reported crime in that area. In the Seattle metroplex, the wealthier, more upscale areas of the city (with the richer, more powerful residents) rate a faster response time, with the inverse being true for the poorer districts of the city. Shadowrunners often bank on these response times when engaging in an activity in a particular section of the city, as the officers rarely make any effort to arrive at a reported incident far ahead of their required response time.
